Hendrix Genetics: performance and hospitality!

Les gens de Hendrix Genetics nous ont 
chaleureusement accueillis avec l'Hymne National Canadien. Messieurs Servé Hermans et Peter Arts nous ont présenté la compagnie puis leur système de sélection génétique, principalement pour les poules pondeuses. Ensuite, nous avons visité une ferme de 50 000 poules pondeuses en système aviaire (un poulailler à aire ouverte). Suite à cette visite fort intéressante, Hendrix Genetics nous a offert un dîner ainsi qu'une visite culturelle en après-midi. Nous sommes donc allés découvrir le musée Liberty Park (sur la 2e guerre mondiale) ainsi qu'un cimetière en l'honneur des soldats canadiens qui ont contribué à la libération de la Hollande et protégé la reine Wilhelmina. À notre retour à l'auberge de jeunesse, nous avons eu le bonheur de retrouver quelques-uns de nos bagages...

The Hendrix Genetics staff kindly greeted us with the Canadian National Anthem. Mr. Servé Hermans and Peter Arts gave us a detailed presentation of the company and their genetic 
selection system, particularly for laying hens. After the presentation, we visited a 50 000 layer hen operation. The farm recently switched to an avian system, in which the hens can roam freely and lay their eggs in individual nests. Following the visit, Hendrix Genetics generously offered us a delicious lunch and accompanied us through our afternoon visits. During the afternoon we visited the Liberty Park Museum. (World war II museum), as well as a memorial cemetary in honor of the canadian soldiers who were part of the liberation of Holland and who protected the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina. Upon our return to the youth hostel, we were relieved to find at least a few of our suitcases...
